Take Good Care of My Baby was written by Carole King and Gerry Goffin. The song was made famous when Bobby Vee released his version in 1961.
The version heard here is the Beatles performing the tune during their audition for Decca Records on January 1, 1962. This was before Ringo Starr joined the band, so Pete Best is their drummer during the era. George Harrison performs the lead vocals on this recording.
Notice that the video features some rare early photos of the band.

Hey, nice blog. I always loved this tune—as well as most of Carole King's early tunes. I forgot the Beatles recorded it for the Decca audition. It's funny that the extent of Lennon & McCartney's early ambitions were to be bigger than Goffin & King! But even that was probably heard as arrogant in 1961!

This is good example of how much better Ringo's drumming was as apposed to Pete's. Notice how Pete sounds so amateurish in his approach to drum fills and moving around the kit.
